In many registration forms, under ‘Hobbies and Interests’ I always put down three things: reading, music and photography. The first is alive and well. I spend a lot of time reading, and I have a lot of unread books at home. The latter two are, honestly speaking, not so well.
Thanks to my Nokia 6230, my photo hobby is still alive, though not so much as in my college years when I had a camera with me nearly everyday.
My music is the most languishing of the three. I rarely touched my piano nor my guitar at home. I was too busy with other things (one of which is watching TV) to have time with either of them.
Lately I ressurected my past-time interest. With so much information in the technological miracle-cum-marvel called the Internet, an interest is a lot more easier to grow.
I just spent my entire lunch hour looking at websites such as www.gitaris.com, www.yamaha.co.id, www.roland.com, and reading posts at musicians mailing lists like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/keyboard_organ_style-file. It’s so inspiring to meet real-life people who share your interests.
For a shutterbug like me, the most inspiring is www.fotografer.net. Goodness, what pictures they took. I joined the community and uploaded some photos I took in my honeymoon, learned some tricks and techniques from the masters there, and so on. It’s just so nice.
I must say I feel less like a zombie now that I rediscovered what keeps me interested in life.
